[Success Digest] Before Commitment, Identify Purpose (1) By ‘Tunde Olatunji

What is purpose? Your purpose in life is simply the reason for your creation. It is the manual for your existence. The reason you want to wake up in the morning and be fulfilled.

This day last year, I wrote a piece tittled PASSION FUELS PURPOSE…. Few nights ago, at about 10:30pm, I received a Whatsapp message from a young medical doctor in one of the major hospitals in Southwest, Nigeria and these are extracts from our conversation:

“I never wanted to be a doctor. But, I did at the cost of my happiness”. I might be good at my job but what’s life without happiness.”………..”What makes me happy is the opposite of being a doctor. I gave all my life to entertainment from my childhood. I find more fulfillment putting smiles on people face. I sing, I act, I dance….”

One of the surest way to frustration is to find yourself committed to a career, business, industry, interests or any course that is at variance with your purpose in life.

Before you get committed, you need to identify purpose. To be passionate and committed without clarity of purpose is like increasing speed when you have missed direction already.
