The candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the 2018 governorship Election in Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, will formally defect to the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Friday, CityMirrorNews can authoritavely report.

Adeoti according to reports would defect with thousands of his supporters including members of the ADP who have been paddling the canoe of the party before he joined them.

He moved to the ADP as an aftermath of the crisis that broke out during the APC governorship primary in the state.

The event which would be done in accordance with the NCDC guidelines according to CityMirrorNews findings is expected to hold at his Campaign Office opposite Bovas Petrol-filling Station along Gbongan/Ibadan Road, Osogbo.

The state Chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun will receive Adeoti and his supporters at a ceremony in his campaign office.

The return of the former SSG signals the commencement of events in the party in the build up to the 2022 governorship election in the state.

Ever since the last gubernatorial election which took place in the year 2018, the ruling All Progressives Congress has not held any public function.

One of the close allies of Adeoti who spoke under the condition of anonymity said his political mentor would have re-united with his former party in grand style if not for the Coronavirus pandemic.

Adeoti is a grassroots politician who has his loyalists spread across all local government areas in the state.

The Iwo born Politician despite paucity of funds took the third position in the last governorship poll.

Moshood Adeoti who was Secretary to the state government (SSG), had announced his withdrawal from the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July, 2018.

Adeoti said the reason for his withdrawal was because the primaries had been allegedly arranged to favour the incubent Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who was the chief of staff to Rauf Aregbesola, the then state governor.

He argued that there was no credible register of members with which free, fair and transparent direct primaries could be conducted.

“While I am not withdrawing from the governorship race, I have decided not to participate in the July 20, 2018 direct primaries of the APC in Osun state for the above stated and other reasons,” Adeoti said.

During the process of the supplementary election that followed the September 22, 2018 exercise, the leadership of the APC had visited Adeoti in company of some governors to close ranks and solicit his support.

Also, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola had visited Adeoti in his country home at Odo-Ori, Iwo after attending the turbaning of Alhaja Nurat Abidemi Oriolowo as the Iya Suna of Iwoland about eight months ago.
