Murder: OPCI Appeals For Calm And Restraint Among Members In Osun
By Steve Oni, Ilorin
The Oodua Progressives Care initiative (OPCI) has appealed to the public, particularly members of the organisation in Osun State to remain calm and be law abiding over the dastardly murder of “our loyal and dedicated local government Coordinator, Comrade Gbajero, who was allegedly killed by a terrorist organisation pretending to be a cultural promoter in Yoruba land.”
In a statement made available to CityMirrorNews in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, on Thursday, National Publicity of the OPCI, Comrade Chris Egharevba, said they should not forget that OPCI is a registered organisation with the Federal Government of Nigeria, and never a faction of any group either in Nigeria or in the Diaspora.
He said: “The organisation is guided by law and all our programmes and activities should be under the ambit of law, no amount of provocations or attacks should let you become nuisances or murderers like them.
“It is on record that they came to limelight through killings and destruction of people’s property, hence the reason for their rejection in the society, while OPCI is acceptable in replacement of them, so they are jittery, frustrated and confused, looking for a way to sustain their acrimony, forgetting that violence is no more fashionable any where in the world.
“We’re assuring you all that we will make sure that justice is done on this case and sinners will not go unpunished.
“We hereby assure the Kabiyesis of Apomu, Ikoyi and Ikire and all law abiding citizens of these communities including the Chairmen of Irewole and Isokan local governments that OPCI will not retaliate violently, but rather, we will ensure that all the perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to justice.
“As a law abiding organisation with belief in efficacy of law, we have the belief that the law enforcement agencies in the State of Osun are up to the task and competent enough to do justice to the matter.”
