“This Is Road Revolution”—Assembly Whip Reacts To Osun Road Project
The Chief Whip of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr Tunde Olatunji has commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola for what he described as ‘Road Revolution’ in the state.
“This is a revolution in this administration’s road infrastructure initiative. Apart from the reasonable cost of the job and the large number of the affected areas, the roads are product of people’s need, not a matter of what the government thought”
Mr Olatunji was reacting to the award of contract for the construction of five majors roads totaling 54.3 kilometres across the three senatorial districts of the State.
According to him, ” this singular act is a again a testimony of the frugal disposition and commitment of Mr Governor, to get things done as economic as possible”.
The Legislator lauded the “Creativity and ingenuity in governance of the Governor, considering the “alternative funding approach model” of contractor financing at a time the national and global economy is bearish.”
He added that the contract award at just 5.2 billion naira was another clear demonstration of the Oyetola’s administration commitment to probity, accountability, transparency and the concept of value for money, more importantly at a time when one of the biggest challenge of such funding model in Nigeria is over pricing.
He submitted that the development was a further confirmation of the high level of private sector confidence in the administration, manifesting in their readiness to partner with the state.
“Through a very visionary, focused and accountable leadership, Osun, has been able to unlock private sector resources for its developmental plans.”
The Chief Whip whose constituency is a major beneficial in the project, with major roads linking the Ilesa-Ibadan high way also thanked the Governor for his concern for the area which he described as major economic hub of the State.
” I am particularly happy because his leadership is making us proud in Ife North. We assured our people during electoral campaigns that Govenor Gboyega Oyetola will fix this major road of ours and today it has come to pass. I feel elated, I feel fulfilled.” Olatunji said.
He described the project as the largest singular government intervention in Ife North constituency in the history of the area.
Mr Olatunji maintained that the Assembly committee on work will effectively perform its oversight on the project with a view to ensuring earlier completion and quality on the project.
He expressed the hope that many other critical areas would be touched with roads project which he believed was in series.
