FCE: We Will Provide Necessary Support If Located In Iwo, Oluwo Chief Pledges
Following media outpour and technical scheming by stakeholders agitating for the location of one out of the six proposed Federal Colleges of Education in Iwo, a Chief in the traditional harem of Oluwo, Gbobaniyi of Iwoland, Chief (Alhaji) Abdulrosheed Jelili Omogbolahan (J.Light), said Iwo is ready to provide necessary support to the federal government provided the ancient city is considered.
Gbobaniyi Oluwo stated Iwo is the most hospitable city in Nigeria, appealing to federal government to put a smile on the good people of the marginalized community.
He said needed supports in term of land and many logistics are infinitesimal contributions the town can make for the situation of the federal college.
Chief Jelili further decried neglect of the ancient city most especially in term of federal presence, saying federal institution is needed to restore the lost glory of Iwoland.
He lauded the stakeholders leading the agitation most especially the Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Prof. Lai Olurode, politicians, religious leaders and opinion leaders.
He sued for cooperation among the stakeholders to attract the institution and appealed to other cities to give Iwo the first benefit.
Jelili disclosed Iwo and Ila are political friends of many decades and always support each other. During the second term election of Baba Bisi Akande, Baba won Iwo and Ila. This is a further testimony Iwo always uphold Ila. We appeal to Baba Akande to honour us with this.
