Ex-Convict Bags 3 Years Jail Term For Stealing Generating Set

A magistrate’s court, sitting in Osogbo, capital of Osun state, has sentenced a 27- year-old man, Nurudeen Tijani, to 36 months imprisonment for stealing generating plant valued at N22,000.
Tijani was convicted on self admittance.
He was arraigned by Osun state Police Command on four count charges bothering on burglary, stealing among others.
The suspect who was an ex-convict pleaded guilty of the first, second and third count charge and Pleaded not guilty to the fourth count charge.
The prosecutor, Mr olayiwola Rasaq had told the court that the convict committed the offence on 20th of October 2019 at Obalende area Osogbo, he stated further that the the accused person was an ex- convict.
Rasaq further explained that the convict stole a JVC tape with 3 speakers 1 DVD player and one LG dvd player in a shop of one Amuzat lukman and Bello Gafari.
The offence according to the Prosecutor was contrary to and punishable under Section 413,390(9),399(9) and Section 430(2) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Laws of Osun State Nigeria 2002.
Handling down her ruling, Magistrate,O A Olayade based on self admittance convicted and sentenced the accused person to 36 months imprisonment without option of fine.
