Perturbed by the persisted ownership crisis rocking Ladoke Akintola University Technology ( LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, workers at the institution’s College of Health Sciences, Osogbo have called on stakeholders in Nigeria to wade in and find lasting solution to the imbroglio.

The workers whose majority of them are indigenes of Osun also called on Osun and Oyo state governments to caution Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ajagungbade Oladuni Oyewumi and indigenes of the town from parading themselves as the sole owners of the institution.

The workers at LAUTECH in Osun frown at the alleged claims by Oba Oyewumi and the indigenes of the town that LAUTECH administration should be run from Soun’s palace having known vividly that the institution is jointly owned by both Osun and Oyo states, describing the idea as totally wrong and unacceptable.

Armed with placards with various inscriptions such as ; “Soun Palace Not the Seat of LAUTECH Administration “, ” LAUTECH is Not Ogbomoso Property “, ” Oyo Osun Government come to Roundtable Discuss Progress of LAUTECH “, Governor Oyetola Kindly save us from likely Xenophobic Attacks at Ogbomoso” among others.

Speaking on behalf of her colleagues at a press conference in Osun, Fapohunda Olajumoke alleged that economic importance of LAUTECH is being monopolized by Ogbomoso, calling on both Oyo and Osun governments to prevail on Soun of Ogbomoso to stop interfering in the daily administration of LAUTECH.

She further enjoined the two Governors , Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and Mr Seyi Makinde to do everything within their reach to ensure fairness, Justice and equity in the distribution of the institution assets to ensure effective management of the institution and also put an end to the lingering crises. She noted that such process would help in the sustainability , growth and progress of LAUTECH.

Olajumoke said: ” Despite all intimidation from Ogbomoso indigenes , there is no occasion that indigenes of Osun who are LAUTECH staff responded or retaliated. Osun and Oyo Governments should prevail on the Soun of Ogbomoso to stop interfering in the daily administration of LAUTECH.

” Inequity in the distributions of faculties, programmes and projects of the university had been a major challenge and the need to addressed such issues was pertinent.

” The University has seven (7) Faculties with only one (1) which is the Faculty of Clinical Science wholly situated in Osun.
Staff ratio is extensively skewed to Oyo , despite that Osun pay salaries .

” We should know that since 2013 ,Oyo government had stopped paying salaries of the Teaching Hospital in Osun which is only the hospital recognised by the Edict of the University.

” Economic importance of the institution is monopolised by Ogbomoso which is worrisome,” she said.

According to her, ” The government of both states had been financially and morally committed to LAUTECH in which Osun spend more on the institution than Oyo.

She noted that the continuous intervention of Soun of Ogbomoso in the daily administration of LAUTECH stop be stopped.

” The two states should come to roundtable on the sustainability and progress of the institution,” Olajumoke said .

Dr Lekan Adebayo, a staff of the University who further spoke to newsmen called on both government to revisited and respect the 2010 Report by the Visitation team to LAUTECH.

He said,” He wished the institution becomes a Federal University if the need demands, and also the last solution to the crises in the institution.

Adebayo , however, said the purpose of the conference was to disabused the minds of falsehood being peddled by the Ogbomoso indigenes and he called for Justice, equity and fairness of the institution assets if the needs demands .
