Abductors Of Bayelsa Commissioner’s Father Yet To Contact Family

The kidnappers of Agbabou Week, the father of the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Doodei Week, have refused to communicate with the family 72 hours after they took their victim away to an unknown place.

It was gathered on Friday that the gunmen have not contacted the family of the 85 year-old Week since they abducted him from his home at Ayama-Ijaw in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday night.

Week’s abduction took place four days after the 80 year-old Beauty Siasia, the mother of former Super Eagles’ head coach, Samson Siasia, was released on Sunday by her abductors.

She spent 77 days in the custody of her kidnappers.

The victim is a second-class traditional ruler and the monarch of Tarakiri clan in the area.

His assailants were said to have ransacked his palace and carted away a plasma television as well as two speedboats and a 200-horsepower engine boat belonging to the commissioner.

A close family source who spoke in confidence on Friday said that members of the family had been anxiously waiting for the bandits to contact the family.

“They have not made any contact yet. The family is expecting a call from them and praying that he (the monarch) will be safe. He is not medically sound,”the source said.

When contacted, Asinim Butswat, a Superintendent of Police and spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, said “we have commenced investigation.”
