Nee Aregbesola 10 Years Remembrance: Oranmiyan Group Grieves, Organises Special Prayers

Ten years after the death of the elder sister of the immediate past Governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, late Alhaja Wasilat Adunni Nee Aregbesola, religious bodies, politicians, students among other gathered in Osogbo to commemorate the life and times of the astute courageous woman.
CityMirrorNews reports that Adunni nee Aregbesola died on February 16, 2009,
while the straggle to retrieve Rauf Aregbesola’s mandate was still ongoing.
The Fidau prayer, which was organized by the popular sociopolitical organization, Oranmiyan Group, had in attendance political friends of the late Alhaja Adunni and other dignitaries across the state.
Speaking, the Director General of Oranmiyan group, Mr Olajide Sadiq said the decision to organize the commemoration prayer came on the heel of the recognition of the prominent role late Alhaja Adunni played during the cause of retrieving the then stolen mandate of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past Governor of the state.
Expressing sadness over her death , Sadiq said Alhaja Wasilat Adunni departed this world when she started the struggle to help her brother, Rauf Aregbesola, become the Governor of Osun State.
“When the present management of Oranmiyan take off in January, we make some decision and part of those decisions is to remember those that lost their lives, to organise prayer for them because it’s necessary to remember those who participated in the struggle then before we came to the helm of affair in state, among them is Alhaja Wasilat Adunni Nee Aregbesola.
“She was very instrumental to our agitation for our principal. She played a vital role with her finance to help Oranmiyan as an organization. she also participated in struggle but unfortunate, on February 16 2009, she was called to Glory.
“We must not forget to praise her for the struggles she led during the democratic struggle to install the immediate past governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
“Her moments, her bravery, doggedness, ruggedity, care and hard work to ensure Aregbesola’s victory while she was alive can not easily be forgotten.
“She was an active participant and party to the Oranmiyan struggle where she dedicated her life to fight and reclaim the mandate of Rauf Aregbesola as the elected governor of Osun.
“Until her death, Alhaja Adunni was a “living tree” of Osun political history and stood as the rallying point of all political leanings in the state.
“She will be remembered for her resourcefulness and carriage, and for being the pillar behind the great Oranmiyan
“Today the Oranmiyan group, which was championed by Aregbesola, praised her courageous zeal for that democratic struggle which she did not stay around to enjoy its fruit.” he said.
Speaking, the son of the diseased, who is the Personal Assistant to the immediate past Governor, Olateju Adunni Olorungbe Ishola described mama as a caring and loving mother.
He said he wishes to come to this world again through her mother whom he said he would never forget in life for motherly roles she played in his life.
In their seperate tributes, Mr. Ganiyu Abisoye, and Alhaja Temilade Olokungboye, the Executive Chairman, Osogbo Central LCDA described late Alhaja Adunni as a courageous women whose the roles she played during the cause of struggle would continue to linger in the memory of the people.
