2026 Osun Guber Election Will Be Replica Of June 12 Poll For AMBO’s Victory—APC Campaign Council
The Civil Society Committee of All Progressives Congress(APC) for 2026 Guber Campaign Council, on Wednesday expressed confidence that the forthcoming election will be a replica of June 12, 1993 election for the victory of its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Munirudeen Oyebamiji(AMBO).
Addressing newsmen at NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Osogbo, the Secretary of the Committee, Comrade Adeola Olayiwola, disclosed that they have they have organised a commemorative programme tagged ‘Democracy and The Ideals of Progressive Governance’ to preserve the lessons of June 12 and mobilise support for AMBO.
He recalled that 1993 election demonstrated the true spirit of democracy which transcended divisions and showcased the maturity, patriotism, and aspirations of our people for a better and more prosperous nation.
“We pay special tribute to Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (M.K.O.) Abiola, whose victory in that election became a powerful symbol of the people’s mandate. We also honor all those who paid the ultimate price in the struggle for democratic governance and constitutional rule in Nigeria.”
Also, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, a former Senior Special Assistant on Student Mobilisation under Oyetola’s administration, Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji, said “the forthcoming guber election in Osun State will be a replica of June 12 for the victory of AMBO.
“When you see the people on the other side, they don’t know what we survive, they don’t even know what it’s all about, all they know is power. We strongly believe that as long as democracy survives, it’s in the best interest of not only our state, it’s in the best interest of Nigeria.”
He stressed that “When you look at the trajectory of our party especially in the last four years, we lost elections in 2022, instead of us to be burning tyres, to be protesting, burning houses, we approached the court. We won at the first tribunal, we lost at the appellate court, we lost at the Supreme Court, we accepted our fate and we moved on to reorganise our party, to strengthen our party and to mobilise for future elections.
“That is the spirit of a genuine democrat, not to resort to violence, not to resort to brigandage, not to resort to blackmail. When we conducted a local government election, a federal court here nullified our election. We approached an appellate court, we got judgements. Even when the executive order asked our local government chairman and councillors to vacate local government, we never argued with them. Instead of taking violence as an option, we went to court and we got justice.”
He pleaded with all national institutions in election management to work assiduously to guarantee credible election in Osun State.
