Ekiti ASUSS Celebrates Retired Members In Grand Style
It was indeed a recognition of hard work and meritorious services as members of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools ASUSS Ekiti State Chapter celebrated their senior colleagues who bowed out from service.
During the ceremony held at the permanent site of the union at Ajebandele Ado Ekiti, in commemoration of this year’s world Teachers Day, the retirees were showered with various gift items by the union while some of them also got additional gifts from individual members.
Among the gifts donated to the senior citizens include Motorcycles, Electronic appliances, mattresses, to mention but a few.
Addressing the gathering, the state chairman of the union Mr Sola Adigun advocated the need for state and federal governments to recruit more qualified teachers in order to achieve the universal primary and secondary school education by 2030.
Mr Adigun, also suggested an improved funding of public schools while teachers must be exposed to regular trainings to enable them meet up with global contemporary methods of teaching.
Other recommendations by the chairman includes, review of the admission policies into faculties of education, upgrade and implementation of additional degrees acquired by teachers, provisions on necessary facilities to schools and better welfare for teachers
In a remark, chairman on the occasion Mr Femi Bamisile acknowledged the roles of teachers to nation building hence he promised to discuss with the present government to according more priority to their welfares just as he equally promised his personal supports for the union.
Other dignitaries on the occasion including scholars, traditional rulers, and invited guests showered encomium on the leadership of ASUSS for the Laudable programme which has given members sense of belongings.
The retirees could not also hide their feelings as they pour out good woodds to eulogize members and leaders of the union with a prayer for them to also bow out successfully.
