Police Reiterates Ban on Sales, Use of Explosives, Fireworks
By Jide Afolabi, Jos
The Nigeria Police Force, Plateau State Command has reiterated its ban on the sale and use of explosives and fireworks (knockouts and bangers) within Jos Metropolis and its environs.
The Police expressed it’s dismay that despite the ban, there was indiscriminate purchase and use of the products in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, of the Command, Tyopev Mathias Terna in a press release issued today, Friday, a copy of which was sent to our correspondent, the police said that the Command has directed its personnel to arrest the vendors and users of the banned objects.
He said, “The ban on the sale and use of explosives and fireworks is still in force in Plateau State consequently, our personnel has been directed to arrest both the sellers and the users of these objects without delay when found, and anyone arrested will face the wrath of the law.”
“The Police Command, therefore, advises parents and guardians to prevail on their children and wards to desist from this act that distracts the alertness of all law-abiding citizens.” He stressed.
