Militants Kill 24 Afghan Security Personnel In Western Province – Reports
A total of 24 members of the Afghan security services were killed as a result of two attacks staged by militants in the country’s western province of Farah, local media reported on Saturday.
Provincial Council Chief Farid Bakhtawar said a major attack took place overnight in the Farahroad area of the Balabuluk district, killing 10 officers of special forces and eight policemen.

Another attack was carried out in the province’s capital of Farah, six police officers were killed in the assault.
Afghanistan is in a state of political and social turmoil, with government forces fighting the continuing Taliban insurgency.
A report said other extremist groups, such as the Islamic State (IS), outlawed in Russia, have also expanded their activities both in the country and in the neighbouring states. (Sputnik/NAN)
