By Olu Babaalola
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and Law Maker in the House of Representatives, Prince Albert Abiodun Adeogun has called on the leadership of his party and all contestants in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun state to display exemplary maturity in the coming congress and party primaries otherwise the plan to remove the ruling party would be a mirage.
Adeogun who represents Ife Federal constituency in the National Assembly also faulted the position of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola who believed Osun West should produce the next state Governor pointing out that his views had no logic and facts.
Speaking with news men after his visit to the family of Apetu of Ipetumodu in Osun state, Oba J.Adegoke who joined his ancestors recently ,Adeogun who is also the Okanlomo of Ipetumodu stressed that despite the fact that there are many aspirants struggling to emerge as the party state executives and gubernatorial candidate, the party has laid a guideline to be followed to get the best candidate stressing that whoever emerged at the primaries would be supported by other contestants.
“The National officers of our great party has declared that it would not compromise on internal democracy. We have unanimously agreed on this guideline.Whoever emerges from the shadow election should be fully supported,he advised.
Commenting On Oyinlola recommendation, Adeogun said”The former governor should better take his recommendation to his party as the PDP has settled for primaries. The era of impunity has gone.Internal democracy has been promoted in our own party,”he stressed.
He reiterated that Osun state has three distinct groups which are
“It is being stressed that only Ife son or daughter has not been priivileged to govern the State despite the contribution of the area to the growth of the party. This is against the principle of equity, equality, justice and fairness. ,the Lawmaker said.
He advised the electorate in the state to see the leadership of the ruling party as being wicked alleging “Many people particularly pensioners in the State were sent to the early graves as the APC government denied them of their entitlement, and money to buy essential medications for their care were not paid them by the government which busied itself with white elephant projects. Now that elections are coming ,the APC men are seeking the favour of the voters ,Adeogun added.
The aspirant advised electorate to ensure that they get their voters cards in order to vote in their choice candidate warning that they should resist the temptation of being bought over and put in slavery for the next four years.
Adeogun who has put on grounds scholarship projects and empowerment programmes for youths and artisans in the four local governments in Ife zone, called for attitudinal change in the lives of the youths adding “no youth should allow himself to be used for any criminal act anymore.
