2018: I’m Capable To Govern Osun- Adejare Bello

A former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Adejare Bello has said he is capable to govern the state.

Bello expressed optimism that he would emerge victorious in the coming gubernatorial election.

The former Speaker who said he has whatever it takes to govern Osun having worked with the past and present administrations in the state said he was capable to govern the state successfully.

Bello served as a member of the State House of Assembly for 12 years and became the Speaker of the House during the administration of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and also spent six months as Speaker of the House during the first term of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

While speaking with the newsmen at the 8th day Fidau  prayer for his late father, Alhaji Bello Ajagbe Olatoyemu on Wednesday in Ede, Mr. Bello said he has hope that he would win the governorship poll in September.

Describing his late father as an accommodating and God fearing person during his lifetime, the former Speaker said, “I have whatever it takes to govern Osun. I have worked with Oyinlola’s administration and I also served as the Speaker for six months during Governor Aregbesola first term, so with this experience, I will make a good governor.”

Also speaking, a former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) , Prof. Wale Oladipo, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  for the prompt release of the  guidelines and schedule of activities for the 2019 general  elections.

Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu,  on Tuesday released  the the 2019 election guidelines at a press conference in Abuja.

Oladipo said the move by INEC shows that the commission was preparing seriously for the 2019 general election.

” I want to commend my colleague,  Prof. Yakubu for being very proactive. The fact that that came out with the timetable shows that they are preparing seriously for next round of election.”

He, however,  urged INEC to separate the presidential and national elections,   saying combining the two would be confusing.

“We all know that illiteracy is very rampant in our society,  therefore combining the two election together will be confusing for the electorate.

” Some people may want to vote for presidential candidate of PDP and vote for APC National Assembly candidate but combining the two together might confuse the electorate.

“Maybe we should have the National first and then the presidential election should follow. ”

INEC had fixed the Presidential and National Assembly elections  for Feb. 16, 2019.

Speaking on the fortune of the PDP in the election,  Oladipo said the party would not repeat the mistake it made in 2015 elections.

He said the mandate of the Chairman of the party,  Uche Secondus was to take the party back to Aso Rock.

” During the 2015 general election, our presidential campaign was handled outside the structure and as a result there were slot of negative campaign against the party.

” But that will not happen again because we will to come out with our own template for running the country and mobilise Nigerians around our programmes.

” We have a very capable,  determined,  and focus chairman , who knows the party very well and he will deliver. ”
Oladipo said the success of PDP in 2019 would start during the Sept. 22  governorship election in Osun.
