Basiru’s Legal Expertise, Political Experience Strengthen APC National Administration
By Mukhtar Sagir Dambatta
Senator Dr. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru has continued to demonstrate the value of legal knowledge, legislative experience and political organisation through his service as National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Basiru, a lawyer and former senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, occupies a significant position in the administration of the ruling party, where he contributes to organisational coordination and institutional development.
His political journey reflects years of involvement in public administration, legislative activities and party politics.
Before assuming his current position, Basiru served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Osun State, as well as Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties.
His legislative experience includes serving in the Ninth Senate, where he chaired the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, providing public communication on legislative activities.
With academic qualifications in law, including a doctorate in Property Law from the University of Lagos, Basiru combines professional training with experience in governance and political administration.
His recent conferment as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) also represents another professional milestone in his career.
Observers of Nigerian party administration may find his combination of legal practice, legislative exposure and party management relevant to discussions on institutional leadership and political organisation.
As APC continues preparations for the 2027 general elections, the responsibilities of its national officers include maintaining party coordination, strengthening internal structures and supporting engagement among stakeholders.
Basiru’s public service record provides a basis for recognising his contributions to the party and Nigeria’s political development.
