Osun APC Running Mate Unveils Development Agenda, Promises Inclusive Governance

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Engr. Benjamin Kayode Adereti, has outlined his party’s agenda for governance, promising an administration focused on inclusive development, economic growth and improved public service delivery.

Adereti spoke on Friday during the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Guest Platform held at the NUJ Press Centre in Osogbo, where he presented the APC’s vision for the state and responded to questions from journalists.

The NUJ Guest Platform provides an opportunity for political office seekers to engage members of the media and the public on their programmes and policy directions ahead of elections.

Speaking at the event, Adereti described the proposed APC administration, to be led by its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), as a “reality government” that would focus on delivering measurable results and restoring effective governance in the state.

He said the administration would prioritise workers’ welfare, strengthen the civil service through the recruitment of qualified personnel and ensure that governance reflects the interests of all segments of society.

The APC deputy governorship candidate also outlined plans to reposition the state’s economy through agriculture, saying the party would promote mechanised farming, provide training and improve access to funding for farmers to boost food production and create employment.

According to him, the party also intends to improve healthcare delivery, expand youth empowerment programmes, invest in technology-driven initiatives through skills acquisition and digital innovation, as well as promote sports development across the state.

Speaking on his emergence as the party’s running mate, Adereti said his professional background in project management and his roots in Ile-Ife complement the experience of the governorship candidate, whom he described as an accomplished financial management professional.

He also highlighted what he described as Oyebamiji’s achievements in public service, including his role at NNPC Lameco and the construction of the Osun Investment Company (OSICOM) Secretariat during his tenure as Chairman of the Osun Investment Company.

Drawing a comparison with the deputy governorship candidate of the Accord Party, Prince Kola Adewusi, who is also from Ile-Ife, Adereti expressed confidence that his reputation and track record would give the APC an advantage in the forthcoming election.

He said while his political opponent is popularly referred to as “Kò ṣe é ṣe” in some quarters, he is known as “Ó ti ṣe é ṣe,” suggesting that his record reflects competence and effective leadership.
