GHSM Faults Osun Accord Chairman’s Comments, Warns Adeleke Against Actions That Could Threaten Re-election

The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has criticised comments allegedly made by the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu, describing the remarks as false, misleading and a distortion of political events.

In a statement issued on Monday by its South-West Coordinator, Alhaji Abass Olaniyi, the movement alleged that the claims made by the Osun Accord chairman during a radio programme were based on fabricated documents, misrepresentation of facts and an inaccurate account of the political timeline.

GHSM maintained that Governor Adeleke’s endorsement of President Tinubu predated his defection to the Accord Party, arguing that the endorsement was carried over from his time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The movement further claimed that the national leadership of the Accord Party had already identified its presidential direction by engaging Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim to join the party and contest the 2027 presidential election.

According to the statement, the Osun PDP leadership caucus had, on July 21, 2025, endorsed President Tinubu for a second term while Governor Adeleke was still a member of the PDP, a development it said GHSM opposed because it did not align with its political position.

The group also recalled that in March 2026, the National Chairman of the Accord Party, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee, met with Dr. Olawepo-Hashim in Abuja to encourage him to join the party and lead its 2027 presidential bid.

It listed members of the delegation to include the party’s National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Abiola Ajaja; National Treasurer, Salaudeen Abdulazeez Oyeniyi; and Organising Secretary, Hon. Ibe ThankGod.

GHSM said the engagement culminated in Olawepo-Hashim’s participation in the party’s presidential primary, where he emerged as the Accord Party’s presidential candidate.

The movement argued that the sequence of events contradicts claims that the party lacked a presidential direction when Governor Adeleke endorsed President Tinubu.

“It is therefore incorrect to suggest that Governor Adeleke’s endorsement of President Tinubu resulted from the absence of a presidential candidate in the Accord Party,” the statement said.

GHSM further alleged that the Accord Party’s national leadership had publicly distanced itself from Governor Adeleke’s endorsement of President Tinubu and reaffirmed the party’s national presidential agenda.

The group also cautioned that the governor’s political approach within the Accord Party could create internal divisions similar to those it claimed weakened the PDP.

It stressed that political parties thrive when members respect established structures, institutions and collective decisions rather than pursuing individual political interests.

“Accord Party must not travel the same path that weakened the PDP. A political party cannot survive when individual calculations are placed above the collective aspirations of its members,” the statement added.
GHSM further claimed that 24 Accord Party state chairmen had endorsed Dr. Olawepo-Hashim’s presidential ambition.

However, it noted that the dispute arising from the party’s presidential primary is currently before the Federal High Court in Abuja and declined further comments on the matter, expressing confidence in the judicial process.

The movement also warned that Governor Adeleke’s re-election prospects in Osun State could depend on the unity of the Accord Party, urging him to work with stakeholders backing Dr. Olawepo-Hashim to avoid deepening internal divisions.

GHSM reaffirmed its support for the presidential ambition of Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, describing the project as one driven by political renewal, institutional reform, competence and national transformation.
