With less than five weeks to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stepped up its grassroots mobilisation as the party’s Elders Caucus, popularly known as Igbimo Agba, embarked on a strategic campaign tour of the Ede and Iwo Federal Constituencies to canvass support for its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
The delegation, led by the Chairman of the caucus, Engr. Sola Akinwumi, was received by party leaders, elected officials and scores of supporters, who described the visit as a demonstration of the APC’s unity and determination to secure victory in the forthcoming poll.
Addressing party members during the tour, the elders urged APC faithful to sustain the momentum of the campaign by strengthening grassroots mobilisation across wards and polling units.
They stressed that unity, commitment and active participation by members would be critical to the party’s success at the election.
Speaking in Ejigbo, the APC Chairman, Mr. Adegoke Lateef Ige, commended the Elders Caucus for what he described as a timely intervention aimed at boosting the morale of party members ahead of the election.
He said the visit had further reinforced the confidence of party supporters, assuring the delegation that the APC in Ejigbo remained united, focused and fully prepared to deliver victory for Oyebamiji.
Ige appealed to eligible voters and APC supporters to come out en masse on election day to cast their votes for the party’s candidate, emphasising that every vote would count in determining the outcome of the election.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Ejigbo West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr. Kolapo Olayanju, popularly known as Africa, described the visit as a morale booster capable of energising the party’s campaign structure at the grassroots. He urged members to remain steadfast and work tirelessly to ensure the APC records a convincing victory.
In the Iwo Federal Constituency, the Executive Chairman of Iwo West LCDA, Alhaji Ajani Tajudeen Babatunde, expressed appreciation to the Elders Caucus for extending the mobilisation tour to the constituency.
He called on party members across Iwo, Ayedire and Ola-Oluwa Local Government Areas to close ranks and intensify efforts towards delivering the constituency for the APC in the governorship election.
Similarly, the APC House of Representatives aspirant for the Iwo, Ayedire and Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, Engr. Ademola Adedapo, appealed to residents of the constituency and the people of Osun State to support Oyebamiji at the polls.
According to him, an APC administration under Oyebamiji would be driven by the principles of transparency, accountability and good governance, while focusing on policies that would stimulate development and improve the living conditions of the people.
The mobilisation tour forms part of the APC’s statewide campaign strategy as political parties intensify activities ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
