Osun 2026: PDP/Accord Members Defect To APC In Osogbo
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 8, Unit 18, Osun State, has received a fresh set of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure ahead of future political engagements in the state.
The defectors were formally received during a special meeting of the party held under the leadership of Hon. Oriola Kabir Oladipupo, with party stakeholders, members, supporters and community leaders in attendance.
The meeting focused on party unity, mobilisation and strategies for consolidating the APC’s presence at the grassroots level.
Addressing members during the gathering, Hon. Oriola Kabir Oladipupo described the influx of new members into the APC as a reflection of growing public confidence in the party’s leadership and progressive ideals.
He assured the defectors of equal opportunities within the party and pledged their full integration into the APC structure.
According to him, unity, loyalty and collective commitment remain critical to strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
“Our party remains open to everyone who believes in progressive leadership and development. We are committed to building a united structure where every member has a sense of belonging,” he said.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, led by Survivor Wale Azeez, who delivered a message on behalf of the APC chieftain.
Speaking at the event, Azeez commended the leadership of the ward for sustaining grassroots mobilisation and maintaining party cohesion at the local level.
He urged members to remain steadfast and committed to the ideals of the APC, stressing the importance of unity and consistency in strengthening the party across Osun State.
Azeez also reaffirmed Oyebamiji’s commitment to grassroots political development and support for party activities across the state.
“The growth of the party at the grassroots level remains very important. Continuous engagement with members and supporters is key to building a stronger and more united APC,” he stated.
Some of the defectors who spoke at the meeting expressed confidence in the leadership direction of the APC, noting that their decision to join the party was informed by the need to identify with what they described as a more organised and people-oriented political platform.
Party members at the gathering also pledged to work collectively towards ensuring the continued growth and electoral success of the APC in subsequent political contests.
