Osun ADC Faults Report Linking Ex-PDP Member To Aregbesola Loyalists
The Osun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised a publication by The PUNCH Newspaper linking one Adeniran Ajala, who reportedly rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the camp of loyalists of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.
In a statement issued yesterday by the Osun ADC Publicity Secretary-elect, Abosede Oluwaseun, the party urged media organisations to verify facts before publication in order to avoid misleading members of the public.
The statement explained that Ajala was only a ward-level member of the APC in Odo-Otin Local Government Area before he exited the party shortly after the 2022 Osun governorship election.
According to the statement, Ajala defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2022 and has not been associated with either the Omoluabi Progressives or the ADC since leaving the APC.
The party stressed that reports portraying Ajala as part of Aregbesola’s loyalists within the ADC fold were inaccurate and misleading.
“We therefore urge media practitioners and journalists to desist from sensationalism, ensure proper fact-checking, and remain professional in their reportage to avoid misleading the public,” the statement read.
The ADC maintained that responsible journalism and accurate reporting remain essential to preserving public trust and ensuring credible political discourse in the state.
