Governorship Poll: Osun APC Chieftain, Felicia Olayemi Urges Charity, Peaceful Elections

-Provides Daily Iftar Meals For Muslims In Osogbo

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Osun State, Felicia Olayemi, has urged residents to embrace charity, unity and peaceful participation in the electoral process as she continues her annual Ramadan outreach for fasting Muslims in Osogbo.

Olayemi, who serves as Chairman of the Olorunda Area Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the call while hosting dozens of Muslim faithful for daily iftar at her shop in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo during the Ramadan fasting period.

Speaking during the gathering, Olayemi said the initiative, which began in 2016, was aimed at supporting Muslims observing the fast and encouraging prayers for peaceful elections.

“We are doing this for the sake of God. I have been doing it for about 10 years now. We started with about 75 people, but today the number has grown to about 133 people who come here every day to break their fast,” she said.

According to her, the programme runs throughout the 29 or 30 days of Ramadan, adding that the gesture is also meant to encourage acts of kindness and communal support.

“I advise people to observe the fast with the fear of God, and we should pray that nothing negative happens during the election. Those who are wealthy should also learn to help the poor so that we can support one another,” Olayemi added.

She also offered prayers for the country and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Also speaking, an APC chieftain from Ife South Local Government, Otunba Babatunde James, commended Olayemi for sustaining the initiative over the years.

“She has been doing this for a long time, always cooking for people to break their fast. It is a good thing to emulate,” he said.

James, who identified himself as a Christian, said he also joins the gathering to break the fast, describing the initiative as one that promotes unity.

“I am a Christian, but I also come here to eat with them. There is reward in doing good, and anyone who has the means should emulate this gesture and help people, not only during this period but at other times,” he added.

Another APC member, Oloyede Adekunle, also praised Olayemi for the initiative, describing Ramadan as a period of endurance and devotion.

“We thank God for this period of fasting. It is a time of endurance, and we believe that anyone doing this is seeking the face of God. She has been doing it for a long time, cooking for people throughout the fasting period. May God bless her,” Oloyede said.

He also urged residents to support the APC in future elections.
