By Niyi Olutunde, Akure
The Ondo State House of Assembly has absolved former Speaker of the House, Hon. Jumoke Akindele, her Deputy, Hon. Fatai Olotu and former Majority Leader, Hon. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu of financial misconduct involving the controversial N15m filed against them.
This followed the submission of report by the Committee set up to investigate the matter headed by the Chairman, House Committee on Security and Majority Leader, Mr Olugbenga Araoyinbo, who the committee observed that the communication gap that existed between the leadership of the House and other members generated the whole crisis.
Araoyinbo added that it was discovered that the said money was actually approved for sensitisation of the public and relevant stakeholders on the issue of security, and that Akindele accessed the funds in good faith on behalf of the House.
The House at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Bamidele Oleyeloogun, absolved the three former principal officers and the paymaster, Mr Sina Makanjuola of financial misconduct.
It would be recalled that members of the house some times before the expiry second term of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko alleged the then Speaker, Hon. Akindele, Olotu and Akinsoyinu of financial misconduct involving a N15 million.
The members singlehandedly accused Jumoke Akindele of deliberately ordering the pay master to withdraw the sum without full consent of the house.
Meanwhile, the House has fixed next week Friday to organise Public Sensitisation on Security Matters in the state which is to hold at Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium, Akure.
