Tinubu To Opposition Parties: “I Won’t Help You Put Your House In Order”
President Bola Tinubu has told opposition parties losing their members to the ruling All Progressives Congress that it is not his duty to help them set their house in order.
Tinubu, who said this while addressing a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday, dismissed the allegations that his administration was frustrating the other parties by creating crises aimed at turning Nigeria into a one-party state.
While emphasising that a one-party state situation was not good for Nigeria, Tinubu said no one would be discouraged from joining the APC.
He said, “You are all welcome to the progressive fold. Nobody should close the door.
“Political parties fearful of members leaving may be better served by examining their internal processes and affairs, rather than fearfully conjuring up demons that do not exist.
“I will not say, try your best to put your house in order. I will not help you to do so, either.”
Tinubu also took some time to talk about Nigerian democratic journey.
He said, “I felt a sense of collective accomplishment when I realised how far we had come as a nation.
“Democracy has risen from the ashes of military rule to reclaim its rightful place as the only acceptable form of governance for our resilient and beloved people.”
