Timothy Owoeye’s Descent Into Political Lunacy By Engr Shakbab
It is both astonishing and pitiable that a rejected politician like Timothy Owoeye, a man once entrusted with the gavel of Osun’s legislative chamber, has now descended into the abyss of political senility and rhetorical gibberish by calling a sitting, Supreme Court-affirmed Governor a “caretaker”.
It is not merely foolish, it is a manifestation of mental confusion, a grotesque betrayal of democratic intelligence. The Yoruba say, “Ọmọ tí a kọ́ kọ́, tó tún kọ́ ara rẹ̀, a fi kúrò ní ilé alágbàdo lọ s’ilé àkùkọ,” the child who is taught but refuses to learn ends up a disgrace among peers.
Owoeye’s vituperation reeks of the bitter bile of irrelevance. He is a political relic, a man mourning the obituary of his political influence. Rt Hon. Adewale Egbedun, through tangible, people-centered legislation, has rendered Owoeye’s past record not only obsolete but laughable. How dare a man whose tenure was riddled with inertia and mediocrity insult a Governor whose works are singing across the hills and valleys of Osun State?
This reckless outburst from Owoeye is the last kick of a dying political horse, a vain cry from a man buried by his own failures. He who could not plant a single seed in fertile ground now rages because another has harvested a bountiful field. “The toad does not run in daylight unless something is after it.” In Owoeye’s case, that something is shame, envy, and historical insignificance.
It is tragic that a man who once wielded power now chooses the path of sabotage, unprovoked mischief, and verbal diarrhea. His words are not those of a statesman, but of a jester seeking relevance in a kingdom that has moved on. His utterance does not challenge Governor Adeleke; rather, it unmasks Owoeye’s intellectual bankruptcy and moral decay.
Let the public judge: Is it not ironic that the man who presided over a rubber-stamp legislature, who oversaw no legacy achievement, now dares to question a Governor under whose leadership roads are dualized, salaries are paid, universities are revived, PHCs are rehabilitated and dignity is restored to the civil service? “When the drumbeat changes, the wise dancer adapts” but Owoeye continues to dance to the dead rhythms of expired politics.
This is not criticism. This is treachery cloaked in ignorance, and it must be condemned in totality. Owoeye has spat into the wind, and it shall blow back into his face. Let it be known: the people of Osun are not fooled. They will not allow a desperate, displaced politician to insult their collective will and elected leader. Let Timothy Owoeye crawl back into the shadows from whence he came, for daylight is no friend to deceit.
