O’SACA Celebrates 2024 World AIDS Day
The Osun State Agency for the Control of AIDS (O’SACA) will join the rest of the world to commemorate this year World AIDS Day with the theme: “TAKE THE RIGHT PATH”
This was contained in a release by the Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Olusegun Daramola, on Friday 29th of November, 2024.
According to the release, World AIDS Day is an annual global event observed every 1st of December. It serves as a crucial opportunity to unite in the fight against HIV, show support for people living with HIV/AIDS and remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses. The day aims to raise awareness, bring back conversations around HIV/AIDS and highlight the ongoing challenges and achievements in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The release further stated that this year event is a 3-day activities. On Saturday 30th December, Tennis match at Osogbo Tennis Club, GRA Osogbo by 8am.
While on Sunday, 1st of December, there will be media engagement – Eroya program on OSBC radio by 7am and candle light procession by 5pm in the evening from O’SACA office, 79, Odi-Olowo street Osogbo to Osun mall.
The climax of the event will be on Monday 2nd December with a roadshow by 7am from Nelson Mandela Freedom Park through Olaiya to Adolak Hotel Event Hall. Where there will be Lecture/Symptom and other activities.
Dignitaries expected at the event include: Wife of the Governor, Ambassador Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, Speaker Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Commissioner for Health, Barrister Jola Akintola, Permanent Secretaries Ministry of Health, Hospitals Management Board, Public Service Office, Chairman House Committee on Health and host of others.
The statement therefore enjoined all the stakeholders in HIV response in the state to mobilize their members to participate in all the events.
