OSSIEC Opens Portal For Adhoc Staff Recruitment, Unveils Barcoded Ballot Box Ahead Of Elections
Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) will on Wednesday 4th December, 2024 open its portal for recruitment of adhoc staff as part of the preparatory arrangements ahead the local government elections scheduled for 22nd February, 2024.
According to a release signed on Tuesday by Omoyemi Badru, Press Secretary to OSSIEC Chairman, the categories of adhoc staff to be recruited are Returning Officers, Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Poll Clerks and Poll Orderlies.
The eligibility criteria for each category will be made available upon prospective applicants accessing the Commission’s portal designed for the purpose.

In another development, the Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Hashim Abioye Esq., has displayed a specimen of the ballot box specially designed for the election.
The ballot box which is to be locally sourced is a collapsible, carriable, spacious, transparent, water-proof material, with a unique bar code.
According to the Chairman, apart from the strong material with which the ballot box is made of, for the first time in the history of the Commission, the ballot box has been uniquely barcoded with secret and security marks such that the ballot box meant for a polling unit cannot be used for another, making it difficult to be compromised.It is strictly controlled. This is to guarantee the credibility and integrity of the electoral process.
The Chairman further reiterated that with the level of OSSIEC preparations, the public is assured of free, fair, credible, transparent and conclusive elections.
