Nigerian National League: Osun United Loses to Warri Wolves
- Game vs Unicem Rovers Match Postponed
By Olabode Abolaji
Osun United Football Club of Osun State on Wednesday evening lost 1-0 to Warri Wolves FC of Delta in their rescheduled Match of the Nigerian National League.
The Omoluabi Giants held the Warri Warlords till the 84th minute before Tanko Paul gave the home team the lone goal that savaged the three points for them.
In the meantime, Authorities of Nigerian National League have postponed the league’s Southern Conference clash between Osun United FC and Unicem Rovers of Cross River state earlier scheduled for last Saturday in Ibom.
CityMirrorNews sighted the development on Osun United Fc’s twitter handle @OsunUnitedFC, on Wednesday.
The ruling comes after the management of Osun United complained about the inadequacy of Security Personnel in the match venue according to the guidelines of the league.
According to the decision of the NNL, the two teams did not take into cognizance, Article 17 of the league provisions for participating clubs which denied Osun United FC the maximum three points and three goals with the abandonment.
The game was called off by the Match Commissioner when the management of Osun United complained about the availability of “just 10 policemen” with 5 minutes to the start of the encounter in defiance of the 20 policemen regulation of the NNL guidelines.
After due consultation, the game was called off around 4.15pm on the day due to the fact that only 13 policemen were deployed.
With the NNL rules, “A game that starts less than 10 minutes into the scheduled time with the home team culpable means the home team will automatically lose 3 points and 3 goals to the visiting side.”
It is however unclear to many sports pundits or analysts what happened with the judgement as the verdict is still questioned both on traditional and social media.
