Leadership Tussle: Osun OSTMS Members Pass Vote Of Confidence On Chairman, Alowonle
-Call for the arrest of Emir, Moshood, Alapadupe, Others
Members of the Osun State Transport Management System in Wednesday embarked on a solidarity rally in support of their Chairman, Wakeel Nurudeen (Alowonle).
This follows an attack on the state Secretariat of the Management System in Osogbo on Tuesday where the perpetrators were calling for his removal over alleged extortion.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, the members also passed a vote of confidence on Nurudeen Alowonle for his transparency and accountability since he assumed office.
They also alleged the perpetrators of the attack of carting away 6.5 million naira from the Secretariat during the attack, calling on security agents to arrest and prosecute them.
They described all the allegations leveled against Alowonle as baseless and an attempt to soil his name.
The protesters vowed not to welcome the return of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW in the state after it has been disbanded by the state Government.
Speaking on the attack on union Secretariat on Wednesday, the State Secretary, Osun State Transport Management System (OSTMS), Alhaji Mukaila Popoola said that hired hoodlums carted away cash and ticket valued at N6,450,000.
Popoola called on security operatives to arrest and question those individuals behind the attack on the secretariat, noting that they attempted to kill the union Chairman, Wakeel Nurudeen (Alowonle).
“We are all aware of the action of some disgruntled elements, some from within our organization in conjunction with hired hoodlums invaded our secretariat to steal and carted away sun and ticket valued at #6,450,000.
“They were also said to have organized a fake protest against the leadership of our park management system under Comrade Wakeel Nurudeen Oluronbi (A.K.A ALOWONLE).
“We call your attention to their gathering we have, here the eight (8) groups that made up the state council, Including: Group 1 axis (Osogbo), Group 2 axis
(Ife, Modakeke and garage olode), Group 3 axis (Iwo and Ejigbo), Group 4 axis
(Ilesha and Ijebu ijesha), Group 5 axis (Ikirun, Ila, Inisa and Okuku), Group 6
axis (Gbongan, Ode omu, and Ikire), Group 7 axis (Owena and Ibokun), Group 8 axis (Ede, Sekona and llobu).
”This is to that there is unity among the Osun State Transport management System in the state for for emphasis sake. The leadership of Nurudeen Wakeel Alowonle is not extorting any of the group or branches.
“The leadership under alowonle, have never been found wanting by the state government as we account in detail for tickets given to us as and when due,
“The property of OSTMS is intact here at the Secretariat, including the office of the Chairman.
“The Adeleke dynasty have never at any point requested for any money from the OSTMS leadership, group or branch for whatsoever reasons.
“OSTMS, as a body inaugurated by the government of Asiwaju Dr. Senator Ademla Nurudeen Adeleke, remain loyal and committed to the administration and will not allow disgruntled element being used by some political opposition to bring back the dark days of NURTW to Osun State.
“It should be noted that Wasiu Arogundade (A.K.A AROSO), Jelili Moronkade, Nurudeen Sulaimon (A.K.A BIGGIE), Akeem Mustapha (A.K.A ABBEY ASHIPA), have been working with officials of N.U.R.T.W outside the state to create anarchy and keep the O.S.T.M.S disunited in a bid to bring back NURTW,
specifically to antagonize the re-election of our performing Governor.
“These persons in conjunction with hoodlums, including, Oyeyemi Olalekan, (Emir), Olawale Moshood, (Lion) and Alapadupe among others should be arrested by the security operatives to question them for invading our secretariat and stealing within. And also for attempting to kill our Chairman, Wakeel Nurudeen (Alowonle) on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. While we await Police action on the above, we hereby state that Osun Ştate Transport Management System have confidence in the leadership of Wakeel Nurudeen. He is a team leader, calm and resourceful.
“We also declared our untainted support for the re-election of our Governor, Asiwaju Dr. Senator Ademla Nurudeen Adeleke to continue his good work till
2030.
“We warn members of the NURTW outside Osun State, using some of our suspended members to create crisis in OSTMS in the state to stop as they will not achieve any meaningful success. We have said bye bye to NURTW and we will not return to the fold again,” he said
As of the time of filing this report, calm has returned to the state Secretariat of the Management System along Sadiat-Ilesa garage roundabout in Osogbo and its environ just as security operatives are stationed there.
