Eid-el-Kabir: Islamic Cleric Charges Tinubu On ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’
-Suggests Way Out Of Nation’s Dilemma
As Muslims in Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, one of the nation’s foremost Islamic clerics, the Founder and Spiritual Head, Shafaudeen-in-Islam Worldwide, Professor Sabit Ariyo Olagoke JP, has issued a passionate plea to President Bola Tinubu to refocus his administration’s policies and chart a course that will bring about lasting growth and prosperity to the country.
This was, as the Islamic scholar, called for the re-opening of the country’s borders for development to thrive.
Prof Olagoke in his Eid’l Kabir message, tagged: “Hope 2023 And Dividends Of Democracy,” to felicitates Muslim faithful across Nigeria and world over, also urged the president to always consult “Think Tanks ” before vetting or approving any policy for Implementation.
He suggested that all stakeholders should be allowed to to air their views on policies before announcement and implementation. For example, State Police Issue,Local Government Issue, Salary and Allowances Issues for upward review to favor the Civil/Public Servants and downward review for political office holders, Bicameral or Unicameral National Assembly, among others
The Islamic cleric urged Nigerian leaders to reflect on the state of the democracy and proffer solutions for a way forward for the development of the country.
His words; “For Hope 2023 to be a reality that Nigeria may develop, safe and secured for better habitability, Tinubu government needs to re-strategize and review Economic policies, issue of border opening and Security Network.”
“The President Needs Think Tanks for vetting process before policies and regulations are approved and even at the Implementation level for fraud free and effective result realization.”
“Ensure Transparency and Accountability by strengthening the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (1CPC) to help us curb corruption and indiscipline.”
“Deterrence will curb further foul intent to cleanse the Nation in moving forward. Focus on National productivity to generate work and Employment.
“Ensure Civil/public Servants are paid living wages and make governance to be cost effective by effecting downward review of the outrageous salaries and allowances of the political office holders.
“Give life to Local government for grassroots development to make life better for the poor voters and their children for Nigeria to have highly empowered Youths on the issue of Posterity and Sustainable.”
“Development as bequeatheable legacy.
Periodical assessment of Commissioners, Ministers and other political appointees to retain or change them to have improved performances and Zero Tolerance to Corruption in Office.”
“Government has a due impact or influence on Religious Practices or Spirituality of the State. When Government is disciplined and good. Religious Adherents are equally good and Scripture Compliant but when it is the reverse, products of Religion become nuisance to the Society fueling chaos and insecurity. Government of Tinubu must therefore promote discipline and zero tolerance to Corruption for the Nation to develop aright.”
“Hope 2023, people believe is a metamorphosis of the dashed hope 1993, thirty years after! The Yorubas cannot afford to miss fixing Nigeria on a platform of Stable and Functional Democracy to build
Nigeria aright. President Ahmed Tinubu must make us smile rather than cry and wail amidst plenty of God’s given material and human resources.”
“With justice and equity principles in place, the dividend of democracy would no more be a tantalizing mirage but real and felt. Happy Eid’l Kabir Celebration,” he stressed.
