Adamawa LG Elections: PDP Fixes N10M for Chair, N120,000 For Councilor Forms
Ahead of the July Local Government polls in Adamawa State, the State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced the sum of N10m and N120,000 respectively as fees for obtaining nomination and expression of interest forms.
Speaking at a press conference heralding the kick off of activities ahead of the council election, the State Chairman of the party, Barrister Tahir Shehu said the party has put up modalities to ensure a hitch free and fair electoral process that will ensure only the most popular persons emerge as party’s candidates.
Barrister Shehu equally announced that in the spirit of gender equity and respect for people living with disability, (PLWD), the party will slashed 50 percent of the cost of the nomination form for the two groups.
While disclosing the timelines for the different activities ahead of the local government election, Shehu said the sales of nomination forms will start from 7 – 12 June 2024.
The State Party Chairman further disclosed that sales of 3 Adhoc delegate forms will take place on 10th June, 2024 while submission of completed forms will take place between 13 – 14 June, 2024.
He told newsmen that screening of aspirants will take place between 15th to 16th of June, 2024 while party Congress to nominate 3 Adhoc delegates will take place on 17th June, 2024 respectively.
Shehu added that display of screened aspirants will take place on the 19th June, 2024 while hearing of appeals will be conducted on 20th June, 2024.
According to the chairman, councillorship and chairmanship primaries will take place on 21st June, 2024 and 22nd June, 2024 respectively while hearing of primary appeals will take place on 23rd June, 2024.
He reiterated the firm decision of the party to maintain utmost neutrality during the election process adding that only popular aspirants will emerge as candidates of the party during the primaries.
