FCT Police Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims, Kill Kidnappers
Police operatives of the Federal Capital Command attached to the anti-kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters in the continued fight against kidnapping in FCT have rescued 14 kidnapped victims after a shootout.
The victims were rescued on Thursday evening, January 24th, at a forest in a border community between Abuja and Nasarawa state.
Confirming the rescue, FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said, “The combined team, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the kidnapper’s den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT.
“On sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on the police operatives, which resulted in a gun duel.
“The police operatives neutralised one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.
“The hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their loved ones.
“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna Garba, has reiterated his commitment to rid FCT of criminality in all its manifestations and maintain peace for all and sundry.
