Four Siblings to Die by Hanging for Armed Robbery in Osun

An Osun State High Court in Osogbo on Tuesday sentenced four family members to death by hanging for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The convicts are Joseph Moses, 24, Samuel Job, 19, Gideon Ode, 25, and Daniel Abraham, 24 who conspired to steal a motorcycle belonging to one Abubakar Rauf with registration number BDG 896 QB.
According to the prosecutor, Mrs Abdulrahman Temitope, the people who were members of the same family committed the offence on Oct. 14, 2013 at about 8:00pm along Kajola expressway in Osogbo.
The prosecutor added that the crime contravened Section 6 (b) and punishable under section 1(1)(2)(a) and also section 1(1)(2)(a) punishable under section 1 (1)(2)(a) of the Robbery and Fire Arm (Special Provision) Cap R11, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Mrs Temitope also told the court that the convicts during the robbery were in possession of a knife, as well as locally made weapons fortified with charms but were later apprehended by the police at their house.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Jimmy Jones, who admitted his clients involvement in the crime however pleaded with the judge to temper justice with mercy in her judgment.
In her judgment, Justice Olubunmi Ayoola, sentenced the convicts to death due to the magnitude of the crime committed.
Justice Ayoola said the prosecutor had proved her case beyond any reasonable doubt and that the four people are guilty of the four count charge.
