Arsenal End 22-year Premier League Drought After City Slip At Bournemouth

Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the Premier League title is over after rivals Manchester City were held to a draw at Bournemouth in what is expected to be Pep Guardiola’s penultimate game in charge.

Tuesday’s result on the south coast leaves Mikel Arteta’s side four points clear of City ahead of the final round of fixtures on Sunday, with the Gunners set to lift the trophy at Crystal Palace.

The build-up to the match was overshadowed by reports that Guardiola is set to step down as City manager at the end of the season.

Speaking to broadcasters before kick-off, he insisted speculation over his future had “absolutely zero” impact on preparations. However, his team were outplayed and outfought by a spirited Bournemouth side, who extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches.

Buoyed by a raucous home crowd at the compact Vitality Stadium, teenage striker sensation Junior Kroupi produced a sublime curling finish six minutes before half-time.

Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic made a crucial save to deny Nico O’Reilly early in the second half, and although Erling Haaland struck a late equaliser, the hosts held firm to secure a valuable point.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, who announced he will leave at the end of the season, capped off his tenure in style as his side secured European football for next term.
