Osun PDP Accuses APC Guber Aspirant, Oyebamiji Of Involvement In Sale Of Living Trust Bank To Ponzi Scheme

The Osun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused a gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, of involvement in the sale of Osun Living Trust Bank to a Ponzi scheme, as recently declared by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Oyebamiji, the current Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), served as Commissioner for Finance under the administrations of former Governors Rauf Aregbesola and Gboyega Oyetola.

A statement on Tuesday by Osun PDP’s Council on Public Communications alleged that Oyebamiji oversaw the sale of a state asset to a ponzi scheme.

It also alleged the NIWA boss of importing thugs to the coronation of the Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, last Friday.

The ruling party said, “Before Mr Oyebamiji aka Amunbo should contest for Osun governorship, we dare him to explain his role in the corruption ridden sale of Osun bank to a ponzi scheme. He was the Commissioner of Finance who oversaw the sale.

“A major state asset was disposed of under criminal circumstances. On behalf of the Osun people, we demand explanations.

“We also ask Mr Oyebamiji why he disobeyed the directives of Owa Adimula by importing lorry loads of thugs who nearly destroyed the coronation programme. Has he tender (sic) apologies to Ijesa people and Owa Adimula for politicising the traditional event despite an open warning from the new monarch?

“The Osun APC attacked the new monarch when he was first announced. Some members of APC actually dragged the new monarch to court. It is shameful the Oyebamiji people stormed the palace with imported thugs from Lagos.

“We call on Mr Oyebamiji to answer these two questions while he should expect five more questions on his controversial stewardship as a Commissioner of Finance and as incumbent chief executive of Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority,” the group declared.

When contacted, a top aide of the former finance commissioner denied the allegations.

“The allegations are untrue. They are just political sentiments whipped up against the ambition of a man who has had a clear track record of an unblemished career in all of the capacities he has served and is still serving.

“While the allegations are unsubstantiated, we will come up with a proper response to address these issues. My principal is focused on his aspirations and dislodging the PDP in next year’s election.”
