Court Stops Benue APC Chairman, Agada From Parading Self As Party’s Chair

A Benue State High Court yesterday restrained the embattled state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Austin Agada from parading himself as the chairman of the party following his alleged suspension by his ward chairman and seven others.

But the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Dan Morgan told newsmen in Makurdi that the party is yet to be served the injunction.

The court order comes as the APC in the state has accused the Chief of Staff to the state Governor Paul Biam and the Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment and Climate, Ugwu Odoh of allegedly leading policemen and soldiers to attack the party’s secretariat during a press conference by the Owukpa Ehaje Ward 1 chairman and his executive members.

Pandemonium broke out when security men in plain clothes broke into the secretariat, venue of the press conference, attacking journalists and other persons in sight.

The APC chairman of Owukpa Ehaje Ward 1 explained that the entire exco was at the secretariat to pass a vote of confidence on the chairman and distance themselves from those who suspended the chairman.

Meanwhile, Agada told journalists that the plot to forcefully remove him as chairman over allegations of anti-party activities was the reason for the attack
