2019: Osun APC Alleges PDP Buying Voters’ Cards For 10,000

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state   has alleged that some people suspected to be agents of the Peoples Democratic Patty, PDP, are purchasing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Alerting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the security agencies and prospective electoral monitors that the PDP is intensifying its ‘disruptive plan to corrupt the election process and steal victory in the next general election’, APC alleged that the party used the same method to win 2016 Osun west senatorial bye election
The APC said it had authentic and very reliable information that in Osun, for instance, the PDP is already inducing voters with N10,000 to part with their PVC pin numbers.
According to the APC, “with the pin numbers in PDP’s hand, the opposition party could influence the manipulation of the electronic card reader to register votes for the PDP regardless of the card owners themselves participating in the voting process.
To be successful in this operation, PDP would have pre-paid for the collaboration of pliable ad-hoc staff in INEC’s employment for the general election to dupe the process”, the APC alleged.
In a statement from the APC Secretariat in Osogbo, signed by the party’s director of publicity research and strategy, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, and made available to the media today, the APC further alleged that;
“The PDP had successfully used this method to cheat in previous elections. First, they used it at the 2016 Osun West  Senatorial bye-election which the party won.
“But it was only after that election had been won that the fraud was exposed.
“Then came the governorship election in September at which the PDP almost stole victory using this fraudulent manipulation of the electronic card reader to boost their vote numbers.
“They however fell short by just a narrow margin after a number of irregularities were discovered. The affected polling units’ votes were voided by INEC and a re-run was ordered at which PDP lost.

“Before that election, the APC had alerted INEC and security agencies when the process of acquiring voters’ PVCs pin numbers was on going.
“But in spite of the alarm we raised and the efforts of the agencies to curb the fraud, the PDP still went ahead to score a massive and unexpected upset with vote numbers it fraudulently obtained. The history of that election is still unfolding.
“Apparently encouraged by its successful use of this fraudulent manipulation of the Senatorial and governorship elections in Osun, the PDP is now massively buying up pin numbers of voters cards all over the place for N10,000 each.”
“On the basis of this information and our previous experiences, the APC is now urgently calling on INEC, the security agencies and all lovers of democracy in Nigeria to stand up against this malpractice by the PDP if we must preserve our fledgling democracy.
“Except decisive action is taken to nip this electoral fraud in the bud, the 2019 general election is at the risk of being corrupted by the leading opposition party in the country”, the APC concluded.
