HON. Oluwole Oke & Osun PDP: I Am Vindicated – Ayodele Asalu (ASLER)

I received the news of the exit of a battle-tested politician and grassroots mobilizer, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, from the PDP with mixed feelings.

On one part, I felt sad that a man who has put in so much to the progress of the PDP in Osun State was forced to exit the party in this manner. On the other part, I felt vindicated, seeing as many leaders within the PDP today are now facing the realities that I faced when I exited the party in 2022.

While leaving the PDP in the year 2022, I said about Gov. Ademola Adeleke, “Yet, the fact that I was not the only victim of his interference, speaks volumes about his person and the dynasty he represents, routinely rewarding loyalty with betrayal”.

Rewarding loyalty with betrayal as I said then, has become the grundnorm in the political activities of the Adeleke dynasty. To satisfy the ego of the major actors in the dynasty, leaders and stakeholders who have worked hard to stabilize the party are treated like rags. Even critical appointees of government are not spared, as they have to grovel to the feudal lords of the Adeleke dynasty.

A quick glance at the PDP today and you discover that the current lords of the manor have sent on political retirement, committed party leaders who held the party together while the Adeleke dynasty went glory-hunting. The injustice being passed around in Osun PDP today signals the egocentrism, and self-centeredness of the Adeleke dynasty.

It is sad that an astute political actor like Hon. Oluwole Oke also had to suffer the same fate before drawing the curtains on his membership of the party. It is sadder that a lot more people are suffering the same fate currently but are unable to make the bold decision to leave, probably because of hopes of future patronage.

As we welcome Hon. Oluwole Oke to the Progressive fold, I call on other stakeholders in the PDP today who have become premature political retirees by the activities of the Adelekes, to join hands with the APC to rid our dear State of the repressive fiefdom that the Adeleke dynasty represents. We are at the ‘O to Ge’ point in our political journey, and we must act decisively to save our State.

I also call on my friends and Comrades in the PDP whose premature retirements from politics are currently being hatched, to take the bold step and come to the APC. I say to you directly, my friends, the disposition of the Adelekes towards you will only get worse and the earlier you take your destinies in your hands, the better.

May Osun State succeed, as we struggle to take it back from the current despots masquerading as democrats.
