Widow Of Slain Accord Member Recounts Husband’s Killing, Seeks Justice

Mrs. Tolulope Ajayi, wife of slain Accord Party member Aderogba Ajayi,p popularly known as Rogba, has demanded justice over the killing of her husband, who was shot dead in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Speaking during a condolence visit by Governor Ademola Adeleke to the family, Tolulope narrated the circumstances surrounding the incident, saying she had gone to give food and drugs to her husband at a junction where she met him with one Oladapo, whom she identified as the youth leader of Esa-Oke.

She alleged that Oladapo informed her husband that an individual known as Omo Aje wanted to see him and also asked whether he would accompany him to meet Hon. Wole Oke, the member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, but he declined.

According to her, Oladapo had previously urged her husband to join Oke’s political group, but he refused, adding that both men had not been on speaking terms because of the issue.

Tolulope further claimed that shortly before the attack, a bike rider warned her husband about a suspicious Sienna vehicle, but Oladapo allegedly dismissed the concern and assured him there was no danger.

“As they were talking, a Sienna vehicle passed by and a bike rider came and told Rogba that the vehicle appeared suspicious. I was there and he wanted to board the bike, but Oladapo said there was nothing to worry about. When the gunmen arrived, they shot him twice, but the bullets did not penetrate. Oladapo then removed something from Rogba’s bag and they shot him again. He fell to the ground,” she alleged.

The widow said she rushed her husband to the hospital after the attack, but he died on arrival. She also claimed that Oladapo did not assist her and had not been seen since the incident occurred.

Aderogba was reportedly shot dead on Tuesday evening in Esa-Oke, while Governor Adeleke, during his visit on Wednesday, condemned the killing and called for action to curb rising violence in the state.
