Boluwaduro LG Chairman Presents ₦6.8BN 2026 Budget To Legislative Arm

The Chairman of Boluwaduro Local Government, Hon. Alhaji Abdulazeez Bayo Oyekanmi, has formally presented a ₦6.8 billion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the council’s Legislative Arm, describing it as a strategic roadmap aimed at accelerating grassroots development and improving the welfare of residents.

The budget, christened the “Budget of Grassroots Repositioning and Inclusive Growth,” is designed to strengthen service delivery, promote economic opportunities, and deepen people-oriented governance across the local government.

Presenting the proposal during a plenary session presided over by the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Olaniyan Tajudeen, Oyekanmi noted that the spending plan reflects the aspirations of the people of Boluwaduro and aligns with the broader development agenda of Osun State.

“This budget is carefully crafted to address the real needs of our people. It prioritises youth empowerment, improved healthcare, agricultural development, and staff welfare, while ensuring that security and grassroots infrastructure are adequately funded,” the chairman said.

Key Priority Areas of the 2026 Budget
According to Oyekanmi, the ₦6.8bn budget focuses on several strategic areas, including: Youth empowerment through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and job creation initiatives.

Primary healthcare delivery, with investments in facility upgrades and improved access to basic medical services.

Agricultural development aimed at supporting local farmers, boosting food security, and stimulating rural income.

Grassroots development covering rural infrastructure, community-based projects, and social welfare programmes.
Staff welfare, with commitments to improved working conditions, motivation, and prompt welfare support.

Security, prioritising the protection of lives and property through collaboration with security agencies.
Improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to strengthen financial autonomy and ensure sustainable development funding.

The chairman urged the legislative arm to give the budget prompt and favourable consideration, stressing that synergy between the executive and legislative arms is crucial to successful implementation.
Responding, the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Olaniyan Tajudeen, assured the chairman of the legislature’s cooperation, noting that the council would conduct thorough scrutiny to ensure the budget delivers tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Boluwaduro Local Government.
