Yul Edochie Reflects On 2017 Governorship Race
Actor and former Anambra governorship candidate, Yul Edochie, has shared his perspective on the dynamics of political relationships during election periods.
Reflecting on his 2017 governorship run, Yul revealed that despite the fierce competition, the candidates, including the then-incumbent governor, related with mutual respect and even exchanged jokes.
He noted that, contrary to public perception, the real hostility often stemmed not from the politicians themselves, but from their supporters, who tended to fuel tension and animosity during the election season.
He wrote on X: “When I ran for Governor of Anambra in 2017, I noticed something. All the governorship candidates were friendly, including the sitting Governor. The few times we all met, there was always mutual respect in the air amidst jokes. Funny, na the supporters dey fight up & down”.
