Tinubu Honoured In Caribbean With Knight Commander Of Saint Lucia
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been given one of the highest honours in Saint Lucia. He was awarded the title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL).
The Government of Saint Lucia announced this on their official X (Twitter) page. They said the Governor General approved the award based on the government’s advice.
They gave Tinubu the honour because of his strong leadership in Africa, his work to promote cooperation among countries in the Global South, and his efforts to build cultural, historical, and diplomatic relationships with the Caribbean.
Tinubu is currently visiting Saint Lucia as part of his tour of Caribbean and South American countries. He is now one of the few African leaders to receive this special title.
The Knight Commander honour is usually given to people who have done great work for Saint Lucia or the world. It is the second-highest rank in their national honours system, just below the Grand Cross.
This award comes as Nigeria is trying to strengthen its global image under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on diplomacy and cultural connections.
The Order of Saint Lucia was created in 1985 to recognise outstanding service.
