NUJ Zone B Congratulates New National President, Other Executives
The Nigeria Union of Journalists Zone B (South West States) has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahaya,on his emergence as the Union National President.
It also rejoiced with the Deputy National President, Comrade Dr. Abimbola Oyetunde and other officers.
Comrade Alhassan and Dr. Abimbola both broke a new record by emerging victorious at the just concluded 8th Triennial National Delegates conference heid in Owerri, Imo State as the first Deputy National President to become National President and first female Journalist to occupy the position of Deputy National President respectively.
A statement by the Vice President of the Zone,Princess Ronke Samo,(also re-elected) and signed by the Zonal Secretary,Abdulrasak Alege,(re-elected)described the victory of Comrade Alhassan as a reflection of his dedication, hard work and commitment to serving the union which has earned him this well deserved victory.
The statement reads:”As you prepare to take up new responsibilities the leadership should be magnanimous in victory by extending a hand of love to other contestants who lost out in order to move the union forward”
“May you continue to inspire and serve the union and its members with integrity, wisdom and compassion.
The Zone equally felicitates the immediate past President, Chief Dr.Chris Isiguzo for finishing strong and making history by handing over to his Deputy and producing the first female Deputy National President,which is the testament of his gender sensitivity and inclusivity.
We also congratulate other National Officers that emerged at the Owerri National delegates Conference and pray to God Almighty to direct them to make positive impacts during their tenure, affirming that the zone look forward to a robust working relationship.
