Gunmen Kill Imo PDP Ward Chairman
Chiedoziem Anyanwu, the ward chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Ife/Akpodim/Chokoneze ward in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state, has been killed by fleeing gunmen.
It was gathered that Anyanwu was shot dead on Thursday by gunmen who rode on a motorcycle.
He was shot in the presence of his wife by two gunmen in his country home in Ezinihitte Mbaise.
According to a source, on arrival at his house, his killers mentioned his name and requested to see him.
“The two men rode in on a bike and asked his wife about her husband’s whereabouts and she pointed towards the compound. They went there and shot him point blank, waited for some seconds before zooming off.
“The first gunshot scared passers-by so they had no resistance. The problem now is that people have deserted the community for fear of more attacks,” the eyewitness said.
“The development has brought an uneasy calm within the fold of the PDP in the state. The slain party chairman was vibrant. Nobody knew why he was killed.”
