Captain To Major Practical Examination Records 100 Per Cent Success, Says Nigerian Army

The 100 per cent success recorded during the Captain-to-Major Practical Examination of the Nigerian Army is a morale-booster to the officers in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, the Examination President and Commander, Nigerian Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), stated this on Friday during the closing ceremony of the Examination held in Abeokuta.

Aligbe attributed the officers’ performance to their comportment, discipline and enthusiasm demonstrated throughout the exercise.

He expressed his satisfaction with the candidates’ exceptional conduct throughout the rigorous exercises leading up to the examination.

“We have witnessed a fantastic exercise where candidates conducted themselves with utmost discipline and enthusiasm.

“As a result, we have achieved a level of success that we have not seen in quite some time.

“We have 100 per cent pass for all the candidate, both the ones that are here in Abeokuta and the 66 other candidates who took part in the same exercise in the North-East.

” They could not be pulled out. So, we have had an in-theatre examination for them and they also passed,” Aligbe said.

He added that the candidates were now eagerly awaiting their nominations to attend the Junior Staff Course and the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, or similar courses in friendly countries.

“The promotion examination represents just one step in the officers’ career advancement journey. They will proceed to the Junior Staff Course and the Senior Staff Qualifying Examination,” the TRADOC Commander said.

“The combination of their performance in these courses, along with their practical results, will determine their promotion to the rank of Major,” he added.

The Examination President emphasised the significance of the achievement in enhancing the morale of the military officers.

“Their success here will undoubtedly impact the way they perform in the field, ultimately contributing to our overall success in various operations,” he said.

Aligbe commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieu.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for deploying the needed resources towards the success of the exercise.

He also applauded the Ogun Government for providing the enabling environment which also contributed to the success of the two-week exercise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 286 officers participated in the Captain-to-Major Practical Examination.

The examination was to test their present level of proficiency and assess their capability to undertake higher responsibilities.
