—Organises Career Mentorship Training For Young Graduates

Senator Ajibola Basiru representing Osun Central Senatorial District has advised youths not to measure people’s success by the size of their wealth to take them as role models but explore opportunities immediate and remote to scale hurdles to success.

The Senator advised in his opening remarks at training he facilitated for young graduates in Osun Central.

The training took the participants through lectures on career mentorship, job referral opportunities and internship training among others.

Senator Basiru observed that many young graduates have lost job opportunities because of the dearth of exposure to happenings in the Corporate World and elsewhere.

“Success is not often achieved on a platter of gold or served ala carte, but often sought and struggled for. Don’t measure success by people’s wealth but by their contributions to humanity. This workshop represents one of such contributions among many we have done before now.”

Some of the resource persons, Michael Aderson, Suleiman Yahya, Adebowale Adeniyi including Professor Ajala from the University of Ibadan, who took turns to teach the participants about career mentorship and job referral opportunities harped on the need for graduates to be computer literate and use the knowledge acquired in Information and Communication Technology to explore job opportunities.

The select consultants and professionals in the Corporate World stressed that at times, jobs exist side by side with youths believing in the slogan of “Dry Labour Market.” The resource person also tasked the participants with the need to learn to multi-task and build skills outside their certificates.

Some of the beneficiaries of the training, Precious Ajibola, Isiaq Adekunle and Mujeeb Olakunle appreciated Senator Ajibola Basiru for the opportunity to attend the workshop.

They stressed that such opportunities as needed by job seekers are rare to come by but for the foresight of the Senator.

Participants for the one-day training were drawn from all the Local Governments that make up Osun Central Senatorial District.

It could be recalled that Senator Basiru had organised such workshops for youths on a wide range of opportunities in agriculture and vocation as well as cooperatives.
