Valentine Day: Oyetola Betrays Emotion As He Celebrates Love With Children Of Special Needs In Osun

The governor of Osun state, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola said life would be a better place if necessary attention is given to the less privileged,whom he described as part and parcel of a larger society.

Apparently referring to the less attention being given to the people with one form of disability or the other,the Osun helmsman,said his administration will not at all times be found wanting in extending a hand of affection and support to them.

At a special program organised by his administration through the office of the state Head of Service in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board (Subeb) to mark the year 2022 Valentine Day with the pupils and students of special needs throughout Osun state, governor Oyetola openly betrayed emotion while watching classical display of talents through singing and dancing and other side attractions by the physically challenged children .

The governor and virtually all the top government functionaries drawn from Ministries ,Departments and Agencies of government who were at the two hour long program were almost moved to tears as the children of both primary and secondary arms of the schools carried out one superlative performance or the other to drum home the assertion that there’s indeed ability in disability .

Speaking , governor Oyetola enjoined the children to keep on aiming for the best in life stressing that their present status should not be an impediment to getting all their dreams in life actualized .

In an emotion laden speech delivered by the governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education in the state, Hon.Folorunso Bamisayemi , Mr Oyetola told the children that his administration will continue to map out policies ,schemes and strategies geared towards making life meaningful and rewarding for them.
He emphasized

“On todays occasion of love feast popularly known as St Valentine Day,
I bring you fraternal love and good tidings of my family, the government and good people of our dear state of Osun.

“Though challenged in one way or the other, I want to assure you that your welfare and happiness just like other citizens of the state will continue to occupy be given the desired mention and attention by my government.

“In other words, my administration will not in anyway shortchange your good expectations of me and members of my cabinet”. Concluded the governor

At the occasion witnessed by the Executive Chairman, Subeb,Hon.Ajibola Famurewa,the two
Commissioners of the Board ,Hon. Moshood Adekunle Oluawo and Hon. Amos Akindiya alongside the management of the Board led by Mr Adeoye Bakare, governor Oyetola announced that
henceforth the celebration of Val Day with children of schools of special needs has been officially instituted to be an annual event to be marked in grand style by his administration.

The governor also announced at the occasion to the satisfaction of the children that his administration had upgraded what hitherto used to be a poor feeding allowances for them just as he added that there has been an upgrade in the standard of living of their teachers by his administration.

In his address which was equally emotion laden with messages of love and solidarity to enhance the mood and living standard of the children,the Executive Chairman,Subeb, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa saluted the exemplary style of the administration of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola,this time around in identifying with the physically challenged children on the occasion of Valentine Day. The Osun SUBEB chair maintained that the gesture was the first of its kind in the history of the state as the previous administrations did not for once held such a love feast for the physically challenged in Osun .

Famurewa stressed that ” with this rare display of love for these children,Mr Governor ,Sir, you have again demonstrated your sense of commitment at all times to make positive difference for all in all sectors .

“Your Excellency,Sir, history will never in a hurry forget what you have done today for these children on the occasion of this year’sValentine Day.

“Notwithstanding their challenges,your love for them will continue to endear you to their hearts for a long time and they will continue to pray for your successful tenure in office wholeheartedly.

“On behalf of Osun Subeb family and the entire people of the state of Osun, permit me ,once again to thank you for your love and affection for these children.”concluded Famurewa.

In his remarks shortly after goodwill messages delivered by the Special Adviser to the governor on Education,Hon. Jamiu Olawumi, the Executive Secretary,Osun Health Insurance Scheme ,Dr Kayode Oginni, chairman,Nigeria Union of Teachers,Osun state Wing, Comrade Adekomi, the state Head of Service, Dr Olowogboyega Oyebade ,in his remarks lauded the state governor,Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for giving express approval for the celebration of Val Day with the children of Special needs in the state.

The Head of Service who had earlier noted that this will be the first time a government would be so magnanimous as to create a special time and day to celebrate Val Day with children of Special needs,also reiterated that it takes genuineness of intention and purpose coupled with the fear of God to do so as openly displayed today by the administration of governor Oyetola.

Dr Oyebade who went memory lane by narrating the genesis of how Val.Day came to be a global love feast used the day and the occasion to enumerate the many good plans of the governor for the people with special needs.

Thereafter special recognition in form of awards of excellence borne out of their selfless dedication to duty over the years were given to some of the carefully selected best teachers of both the primary and secondary sections of the various schools of children with special needs throughout the state .####
