RUGIPO Management Denies Asset Sharing Allegations

The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, has condemned the unfounded allegations levelled against it by some faceless individuals, describing it a sheer campaign of calumny by enemies of the institution.

A statement by the spokesman of the institution, Mr. Samuel Ojo, explained that the people behind the campaign of calumny were ignorant of the efforts being put in by the Banji Alabi-led Governing Council in turn around the fortunes of the institution from outset.

The statement reads inter alia: “Our attention has been drawn to a grim and depressing essay written by some faceless individuals.

“The subject matter is painful to digest. When one studies the history of our country critically and takes the time to do the appropriate research, one thing becomes very clear, in Nigeria, politics and the power game is a dangerous calling and terrible business which, more often than not, comes with a heavy price tag.

“That price tag includes pain, anguish, betrayal, humiliation, persecution and blackmail such as the instant case. The report is defamatory.

“The miserable write-up does not pass the test of logic and cannot be compared with the facts and the unprecedented infrastructural development on the ground at RUGIPO as reported by some eminent people in the state, including the Honorable Speaker and some of our first class traditional rulers.

“The institution’s Guest House was already moribund at the time frontline hotel managers, Hotel Solution, is to invest about N6 million to the Guest House and raise the revenue accruing to the school to N5 million per annum contrary to about N400,000 annual return in the past.

“This task is managed by the IGR Committee of the Council with the like of the erudite Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance as member, Mr. Femi Saint James, a prominent chartered accountant of several years is also a member of the IGR Committee. Therefore, the so-called “Isuada mafia” exists only in the consciousness of the sick, fake and non existing group.

The Chairman of council is an accomplished lawyer and a technocrat who spent 25 years in one of the biggest multinational oil companies in the world.

“It would have been appropriate if the report had indicated his interest at acquiring oil block or manning license for gold and bitumen and certainly not bakery, block-making factory or pure water.

“The report is very insulting to our chairman and we demand its retrieval and apology.

“I want to state clearly that Banji Alabi Esq is not a mean man. He can never depend on Proceeds from Rugipo bottled water.
