Osun 2022: Sanya Omirin, Other Interested Aspirants Have Right To Contest–PDP Osun East Senatorial
Leaders of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun East Senatorial District have said that they have no anointed candidate for governorship election in the state as they welcome as many nominees as possible to jostle for the party’s ticket to contest the election.
The leaders made their position known in a communique issued at the end of the meeting, held recently in Ilesa and signed by the senatorial chairman, Mr Wale Ojo and other 48 members in attendance.
The communique which encourages the aspiration of the former chairman of Atakumosa East Local Government, Mr Sanya Omirin to contest the governorship election on the platform PDP, notes that the door is also open to other aspirants who might also be interested in the contest.
According to the communiqué, “Any forum or group that has adopted any aspirant for the position of governorship of Osun State on the platform of the PDP at this time negates the party’s constitution, rules and procedures.
The communique also support the aspiration of the former governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola for the position of the National Chairman of the PDP.
It adds that, henceforth, the Senatorial meeting should be rotated among the three Federal Constituencies in the Zone and that such meeting should start holding immediately and frequently too.
