The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi on Tuesday commenced the fumigation of public spaces in the ancient town of Ife as it announced the purchase of some disinfecting equipments to combat the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Oba Adeyeye purchased locally fabricated fumigators and Drones worth 8million naira, reiterating his commitment towards supporting government both in the state and federal level to fight the dreaded Covid-19 disease

The Nigerian prominent monarch emphasized the need for all public spaces in the town, state as well as the entire country to be disinfected, fumigated and sterilized.

The Arole Oduduwa while addressing Journalists in his palace, said that one fumigator cost N2million naira for its production and promised to donate two sets each to all the 36states in the country.

He explained that the local fumigators were made in the palace with the help of youths led by Victor Badejo from the Ooni of Ife Global Initiative.

He said the initiative was aimed to combat coronavirus and also to improve the technology of Nigeria fumigation because the way fumigation is being done in Nigeria has become mockery compare with how it is being done in other western countries.

He noted that the local fumigator made in the palace has been fashioned to convert the liquid into fog which will make the process more effective in battling with viruses.

Oba Adeyeye said that the fumigation process will start in Ile-Ife and also promised to donate two of the machines to Osun State Government.

The monarch also vowed that the gesture will be extended to the 36 states of the federation by donating two sets each to the states.

His words, ” For us to be pragmatic in fighting the war, the Ooni of Ife Global Initiative made the Motorised Modular Fumigator. We look at our country Nigeria, the way and manner fumigation are been done has become a global mockery compare to what us been done in the western world.

“We came up with the solution by making fumigation very functional, we made Motorised Modular Fumigator. The liquid from the machine is turned to fog so that it can become droplet and the air can be fumigated. It will drop to the ground to serve dual purposes.

“What started by mere deliberation with a group of youth on how to tackle the pandemic locally, because it is a global war, where some nation benefits while others lose. We don’t like what is happening and to think out of the box, youth-led by Victor Badejo thought of technology to convert liquid to fog in line with global best practices. The product is the result of the fumigation that is happening in the community.

“It is about turning liquid into fog and fumigate the air and sanitise the community as well. The pandemic is not about the rich and poor, but a general problem where money cannot secure Peoples life.

“Several other high place individuals have been moving around to find a solution which informed our decision and we have decided to give the technology to all the state of the federation starting from Osun.

“It is important to do effective fumigation. It is also important to alleviate suffering among the people which explains the reason we share food in the palace daily.

“Everyone should come up with the different initiatives inherent in them to collectively fight the battle. The house of Oduduwa is leading the team and we would deliver the technology to all the nooks and crannies of this country. This should be a continuous effort and not a one-off thing. Places were food is shared should also be fumigated to disinfect every environment that has a potential gathering. We will give two sets to each state. We are trying to control it’s the cost that we are finding means to collaborate with the institution of learning.

“Post covid, it is useful for large scale farming and also to control environmental pollution and it is also anti-dust. The liquid to fog technology is also suitable to fight dust hazards. We have tested it and certified good. The 100℅ locally fabricated modular fumigator is our own contribution to combat the pandemic. N1.5 to N2 million per machine but working on bringing it down when the economy is eventually opened.”

We are willing to work with any stakeholders to combat the pandemic disease but the most thing is the technology of converting liquid to fog, which was lacking in the country and we have mastered it and are willing to share it with all the states of the federation free of charge. He added.
